Michael A. Seman, 52, of Washington Street, Elizabeth, died Aug. 23, 2001, at
his residence.
Mr. Seman was born Oct. 28, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late
Michael and Mary Yanchick Seman. He was a graduate of Swissvale High
School and received a bachelor's degree in education from California State
College, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. For more than
27 years, he was employed as a fourth-grade teacher at Elizabeth Elementary
School and the Wirt County Primary Center. He was a member of the West
Virginia Education Association and the National Education Association. At the
time of his death, Mr. Seman was serving as president of the Wirt County Solid
Waste Authority. He was an outspoken advocate of organ and tissue donation,
and at the time of his death, gifted his eyes to the Medical Eye Bank of West
Virginia for the advancement of optical research.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rosella Allen Seman; a daughter, Mica
Seman of Elizabeth; a stepson, Jeremy Batten of Elizabeth; a stepdaughter,
Christy Belt of Elizabeth; a brother, Ed Seman of Port Angelus, Wash.; a sister,
Marlene Smith of Pittsburgh, Pa.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis
and Bertha Allen of Elizabeth; a granddaughter, Valerie Belt of Elizabeth; and
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Busch Funeral Home of Elizabeth,
with Dwight Goff officiating. In accordance with Mr. Seman's wishes, following
the funeral service he will be cremated and his cremains scattered near the green
and practice fields of Dixon Field in Swissvale, Pa. Friends may call from 6-8
p.m. today and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
