Glenville State College's Lady Pioneers extended their consecutive wins
to 14, improving this season's record to 20-2 Saturday. They are 11-0 in
conference play.
The team now prepares for a three-game series at home, beginning Thursday.
West Virginia Wesleyan will be looking to avenge the previous loss early
last month. The game begins at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Pioneers halted a Salem six-game win streak.
Both teams initially traded a series turnovers and had difficulty
getting their rhythm. However, the Lady Pioneers jumped to an early lead
and didn't look back. Salem committed nine costly turnovers while
Glenville hit seven three-pointers, finishing the half with the Lady
Pioneers hold a comfortable lead 50-27.
Salem failed to get closer than a 17-point deficit the remainder of the
game.
Casey Taylor had an outstanding game for the Lady Pioneers with a
double-double (28 points, 14 rebounds). Rachel Redick added 14 points;
Christy Alltop and Melanie Oliver followed contributing 13 and 12 points
respectively. Karina Kendrick and Christina DiSabato chipped in 5 apiece.
The Lady Pioneers (20-2, 11-0) return to action at home Thursday to take
on West Virginia Wesleyan (6-12, 4-6). On Saturday they take on West
Virginia State, leading up to a February 12 match-up against West Liberty.
Senior Lady Pioneer Casey Taylor netted a double-double against Salem Saturday scoring 28 point and nabbing 14 rebounds. Taylor's
