It wasn't a good day at the state volleyball tournament in Charleston yesterday for Calhoun's Red Devil team.
CCHS (16-11), which lost 25-19, 21-25, 25-15 and 25-22 to Greater Beckley Christian, made 11 unforced errors in the first game.
Even though Red Devil Courtney McKown tallied a match-high 21 kills and fellow senior Dani Church had 36 assists, it wasn't enough.
In Calhoun County's game two victory, it was even at 21 until Caytee Prusack had consecutive kills.
Prusack had five kills while Tessa Batten had seven. Kayla Hixon had 11 points and four aces in the defeat.
It was the Red Devils first-ever effort in the state tourney.
In Class A, Wirt County had no problem winning yesterday as the Tigers roared past Charleston Catholic 25-9, 25-15 and 25-18.
