The "Cash Splash" fundraiser for Ryan "Goob" Fitzwater will be held
Saturday, following the 10:30 a.m. Calhoun-Paden City scrimmage at Wayne
Underwood Field. Several eight-person teams will participate in a tug-of-war
over a large pool of water, according to Deb Hathshorn, who has organized
the event.
"We hope the community will come out for the scrimmage tomorrow and
stick around for the event," said Hartshorn. "This is a way the community
can help, and a lot of our kids are participating."
Hartshorn said the girl's team has already raised nearly $350 doing a car
wash and bake sale.
Three kids who were unable to put together a complete team, Zack and Luke
Moore and Jeremy Conley are running a lemonade stand for "Goob" Friday at
the Pit Stop at Mt. Zion. Zack Moore said they had already raised over $250
by noon.
