Up, up and away, 180 feet of tower was lifted into the sky by a giant crane at Calhoun's new 911 Center yesterday.
The center is located behind Calhoun Middle-High School at Mt. Zion.
The free-standing tower is expected to improve radio communications to much of the county, with plans being made to utilize some new repeaters to cover areas with weak signals.
Much of the new electronic console and equipment was installed in the new building last week.
Dave Johnson, who has resigned as the 911 Director, said the move to the new center could possibly be made by December.
