Funeral services for Brian Keith Batten, 33, of Spencer are scheduled for 12 noon Monday at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, with the Rev. Larry Greathouse officiating. Burial will be in the Egypt Ridge Cemetery near Spencer.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Batten died last week following a confrontation with police officers near his mother's residence along US 33-119, east of Spencer.
He was born on September 8, 1973, in Ripley, a son of Linda Miller and Ronnie and Helen Batten, all of Spencer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and baseball, he was on the All-Star team 20 years ago.
He attended Spencer High School and had a love of the outdoors. He was a very outgoing person and was loved by many.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a daughter, Brianna Dawn Batten of Shock; maternal grandparents, Bill and Frances Miller of Spencer; two brothers, Jamie Batten and Jeff and Sandy Batten, both of Spencer; one sister, Amber and Donnie Sloan of Spencer; one half sister, Crystal Batten of Spencer; and stepbrother, Ryan Miller of Belpre, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James "Dick" Batten and Ella Mae Batten; and his stepfather, Roland M. Miller.
