Pauline E. Simmons, 87, of Spencer died Aug. 5, 2001, in Roane
General Hospital, Spencer, after a short illness.
She was born Sept. 12, 1913, in Linden, W.Va., a daughter of the late Samuel
and Catherine Belle Holland Starcher.
She was also preceded in death by: her husband, the Rev. Delmar Simmons; one
son, Neil Simmons; two daughters, Phyllis Wright and Glada Jane Simmons;
several brothers and sisters.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Hays Fork Community Church and
attended the Epling Chapel Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She is survived by: one daughter, Deleen Nida of LaGrange, Ohio; two sons, C.
Mason Simmons of Tampa, Fla., Jim Simmons of Clover, W.Va.; one sister,
Beatrice "Bea" Hensley of Ravenswood, W.Va.; 19 grandchildren; 24
great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home,
Spencer, with the Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the Clover
Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
