A former Calhoun resident, John Scott Bailey, 52, died August 6, 2001 of
injuries received in a car crash in Braxton County. He was a resident of
Bridgeport, West Virginia, the only son of Minnora residents Scott and Edith
Gae Bailey.
Bailey was a graduate of Glenville State College with a degree in land
surveying. He was a member of the WV Association of Land Surveyors and
was president of the Harrision County Chapter of the WV Association of Land
Surveyors.
He was a 19 year employee of MSES of Clarksburg and a former employee of
Consolidated Natural Gas Company. He was an avid outdoors man and
enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the National Rifle
Association and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of
Bridgeport. "He was a loving son, husband, father and brother."
In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn "Kathy"
Hartshorn Bailey, whom he married in 1971; three children, David Matthew,
Shanna Kathleen and Heather Jade, all at home.
Three sisters, Sharon Groves of Orville Ohio; Martha "Marty" Park of Minnora
and Joyce Meek, Wilmore Kentucky. Also several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home in Clarksburg on
Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The body will be moved to the Stump Funeral
Home in Arnoldsburg on Friday, where friends will be received from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at Stump's on Saturday, August 11, at 1
p.m. Interment will be at the Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery at Mt. Zion.
