LIBRARY LEVY NEEDS COMMUNITY SUPPORT

(10/25/2006)
One of a few decisive issues on the November ballot in Calhoun is the renewal of the levy to support the county's only public library.

Library president Grace Richards says "The free library services is one of the county's greatest assets."

Richards says without matching funds the library will not meet its operating costs. The levy is needed to provide access to information, technology, education and entertainment.

"Your vote will keep the doors open and allow the library to offer books, magazines, newspapers, videos, Internet access, copies, notary services and the expansive history and genealogy room," Richards said.

The library serves about 3,500 people a year with over 800 borrowers, in addition to providing a number of community services and programs.

"It is up to us to keep a library in the community. We need every voters support," Richards concluded.
