Cephas Mowrey Jr., 81, of Parkersburg, died Aug. 3, 2001, at the
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Spencer, the son of the late Cephas and Madge Holbert
Mowrey. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, had attended the Mt.
Zion United Methodist Church and had worked for several years at the
American Viscose and later worked at the Grand Central Mall until his
retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances Hersman Mowrey of
Parkersburg; his children, Geraldine Satow of Coolville, Marsha Blagg of Little
Hocking, Maylene Brown of Parkersburg, and David Mowrey of Alabama; six
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mable Arthur and Nora Tucker
both of Creston, W.Va., and Cora Boggs of Akron.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Noah, Romie, Phillip and
Paul Mowrey; and two sisters, Essie Roberts and Eddie Roberts.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Leavitt Funeral Home of
Parkersburg. Burial in Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation from 7-9 p.m.
today.
