PUTNAM MURDER-SUICIDE -
Putnam County authorities are investigating the fatal shootings of a husband and wife near Hurricane as a murder-suicide after police discovered the victim's bodies in a neighbors yard yesterday.
Authorities identified the victims as Doug and Brenda Beckett, both in their 40s.
The woman called 911 asking for help, and then a neighbor called reporting gunshots.
Police believe Beckett shot his wife as she fled the couple's house across some yards and then killed himself.
STABS BOYFRIEND TO DEATH - A Marion County woman is facing ten to 40 years in prison after being convicted of stabbing her boyfriend to death.
Amber Marie Destefano, 26, of Fairview was convicted last week of second-degree murder after stabbing 26-year-old Jeremy Cosner in the neck with a steak knife last October.
Destefano told investigators she stabbed him because she feared for her own life.
MCDOWELL STABBING â An Illinois man was charged Monday with the murder of his aunt's husband at a family gathering.
Socrates Thomas, 36, of Chicago was being held in the McDowell County Correctional Center for the stabbing at an Anawalt family gathering.
Thomas was in a dispute with Edward Winebarger, 55, of Mercer County, allegedly stabbing Winebarger several times with a knife.
CHARLESTON WOMAN STABS STEPDAUGHTER - A Charleston woman is being held in jail after allegedly stabbing her stepdaughter Shellie Lee Cummings.
Michele Lee Cummings, 35, of apartment B at 1421 Second Ave., was charged with malicious wounding and jailed on a $10,000 bond by Magistrate Julie Yeager.
