Calhoun Middle School hosted Spencer Middle on Thursday, September 28 with both Calhoun teams claiming match victories. Both teams played with heart in match play that took three games to declare a winner.
Calhoun "B" won 25-11, 23-25, and 25-23. Samantha Fulks lead Calhoun "B" with 13 points. Katie Collins and Brittiny Miller both added 7 points, Kenzie Laughlin 6 points, Kayla Cottrell 5 points, Makayla Johnson 3 points and Brook Green 2 points. Samantha Fulks was 6/7 setting and Brook Green was 4/5. From the attack line, Kayla Cottrell was 3/4 with 1 kill; Katie Collins was 2/3 with 1 kill and Kelcey Bourne was 1/2.
Calhoun "A" roared out to a 25-11 victory in game one and lead by six points before losing the second game to Spencer 27-29. In the third and deciding game for Calhoun "A", Spencer lead 17-9 before Calhoun got on track to win 26-24. Ashley Houchin lead Calhoun "A" with 14 points. Jordan Mace added 11 points, Rochelle Gerwig 10 points, Michelle Hall 5 points, and Savannah Church and Amber Wilford added 3 each.
Savannah Church was 29/29 setting and Amber Wilford was 9/9. From the attack line Ashley Houchin was 13/13 with 1 kill; Jordan Mace was 6/7 with 1 kill; Karissa Reip was 5/7 and Michelle Hall was 7/11 with 2 kills.
Calhoun travels to Clay on Tuesday, October 3 and entertains Walton at home on Thursday, October 5 in Calhoun's final home contest of the year. 8th grade player recognition night will begin at 6 p.m. Walton does not have a "B" team so "A" team play will begin immediately following 8th grade player recognition. |
