Mark Shimer, 45, of Creston, W.Va., passed away Friday morning at The Arbors of Marietta from a short illness.<
Born in Parkersburg, he was the son of the late Ernest D. and Anna E. Ewing Shimer. He was a self-employed carpenter working in the areas of Calhoun, Wirt and Roane counties. He was an avid deer hunter.
Surviving is a daughter, Jeannetta (Gary Jr.) Harper of Spencer; a son, Joshua Craig Starkey of Old Orchard Beach, Maine; two brothers, his twin, Matthew (Dana) Shimer of Creston, W.Va., and David (Karen) Shimer of Clinton, Ohio; three sisters, Faye (Neal) Kramer of Ottawa, Ill., Ruby (George M.) Bingman of Medina, Ohio, and Barbara (George) Cooper of Creston, W.Va.; and grandchildren, Clarissa Rose Harper and Gary Harper III.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth, with the Rev. William Delmas Stutler officiating. Burial will be in the Cooper Cemetery of Annamoriah, W.Va. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. Monday until service time.
