Victor Kirby, 97, of Spencer died Sept. 21, 2006, at home.
He was born Feb. 28, 1909, in Calhoun County, a son of the late Rufus E. and Mary Adams Kirby. He was a farmer, a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 21 in Spencer. He was a member of the Alexander Baptist Church and attended the Gilboa Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Kirby; two stepsons and their wives, Thomas and Nancy Sinclair of Spencer and Mark and Tammy Sinclair of Barberton, Ohio; one sister, Eula Nelson of Vienna; two brothers, Cleo Kirby of Parkersburg and Wilbert Kirby of Mt. Zion; and five stepgrandchildren, Caitlyn, Jacob, Meghan, Madison and Zachary Sinclair.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Bell Kirby; and three brothers, Boyd, Delbert and Forrest Kirby.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Leon Strickland and Bill Walton officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery with military graveside rites. Visiting hours are from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
