The Calhoun County Sheriff's Department has received a $74,000 grant to assist with law enforcement in the county, according to Sheriff Carl Ballengee.
The Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, announced the grant last week.
Sheriff Ballengee, who applied for the special funding, said the money will be used for equipment upgrade, computers, computer software, cameras and service weapons, among other special items.
Ballengee recently purchased lap-top computers and other technical equipment from state surplus.
"We really got a great deal on some equipment that is still very usable," he said. |
