Ernest J. "Ern" Truman, 84, of Looneyville, West Virginia, died Sunday, September 10, 2006, in the Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Ivydale.
He was born October 28, 1921, at Tariff, Roane County, a son of the late Jasper and Bessie McGlothlin Truman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lula H. Epling Truman; brother, Robert Truman; sister, Garnet Batton; half brothers, Cecil and Sam Ellis.
Mr. Truman was a retired laborer and a member of the Laborer's Union, Local 1353, Charleston. He was a member of the Newton Baptist Church, Newton. Also, he had enjoyed coon hunting.
Survivors include sons, James F. and John B. Truman both of Looneyville; sister, Ruby Jo Conley of Tariff' half sister, Sybil Ellis of Parkersburg; two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Robert A. "Bob" Keen officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
