The state Health Care Authority issued a certificate of need for the 19-bed unit.
Camden-Clark Director of Marketing Greg Smith says more than 14-hundred patients treated in the hospital's emergency room in the past fiscal year had either a primary or secondary psychiatric diagnosis.
PsychManagement Group Incorporated of Huntington will oversee Camden-Clark's unit.
An announcement will follow when the unit will be up and running.
