Lowell Weekley, retired teacher, coach and school administrator, is Calhoun's 2006 Democrat of the Year.
The long-time member of the Democrat Party will be representing the county at the Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner in Charleston.
He was selected by the Calhoun Democratic Executive Committee.
U.S. Senator Barack Obama will be the keynote speaker at the event to be held at the Charleston Civic Center on September 23.
