The Clay Communicator is reporting the arrest of a Clay County man as a co-conspirator in the making of a bomb that was intended to kill Clay County Sheriff Randy Holcomb.
The Clay Sheriff's Department, the State Police and federal agents arrested Donnie Welch yesterday. He is being held in Central Regional Jail.
Welch allegedly conspired with Sam Murphy to make the homemade bomb, which inadvertently exploded on a Clay resident who was picking up pop cans.
Murphy was recently sentenced with federal charges.
Reports indicate Travis Welch, Donnie's brother, was also arrested for providing false information.
