Robert P. Snider, 79, of Brohard, W.Va., died Aug. 25, 2006, in Williamsburg, Va.
He was born at Brohard, the son of the late James B. and Esther Busch Snider. He attended Strait Creek Baptist Church. He had been employed by Packard Electric, G.M. Division in Warren, Ohio, for 35 years and worked as an assembler and maintenance mechanic. He was a self-taught carpenter and woodworker and had built several houses and was always available to help a friend or family member. He enjoyed woodworking, building and restoring furniture and had enjoyed restoring his birthplace home during his retirement. His greatest joy was his family and friends and he was loved and respected by all who knew him for his gentle spirit. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Isabelle Jones Snider of Brohard; his children, John A. Snider, Debra D. Morris and her husband, Ronald, and Lori L. Jenkins and her husband, David; his grandchildren, Robert J. Snider, Richard R. Snider, Craig Snider, Lindsey Morris, Sam Morris, Mandi McKnight, Shannon Anderson and Erin Moore; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with the Rev. Kevin Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Hartley Cemetery at Brohard. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.
