A West Virginia State Fire Marshall has verified that one man died when fire swept through a house near Spencer early Saturday morning.
Members of the Spencer-Roane Volunteer Fire Department recovered the victim, described to be in his 20s.
His name is being withheld.
The fire and death are being investigated as "suspicious in nature" by the Fire Marshall's Office and the WV State Police.
The house, located at 1258 Parkersburg Road (Rt. 14), was owned by Gary Crichfield.
Crichfield, one other man and the victim were reportedly in the house when the fire broke out.
The victim's body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's office in Charleston.
A second member of an investigative team from the Fire Marshall's office was summoned to the scene. |
