FORMER CHIEF'S HEARING POSTPONED - Special Magistrate Appointed |
(08/10/2006) |
A preliminary hearing scheduled yesterday in Calhoun magistrate's court for former Grantsville Chief of Police Ron Gordon, 56, has been re-scheduled. Magistrate Rick Postalwait was recused from the case at his request, because of a former professional relationship he had with the chief when Postalwait was a local deputy sheriff. A judge has appointed Tom Reynolds as special magistrate, and scheduled the hearing for August 16th at 1 p.m. Gordon was arraigned last week on three charges of sexual assault toward females. He has been released from custody on $30,000 bond. The sexual assault charges carry jail sentences of 10-25 years, if found guilty. Gordon's arrest followed an investigation which started in February by the WV State Police.
