Denny Knight was going to work at Monarch Rubber Company at 5 a.m. today
when he smelled smoke. "I came to a stop when it started coming into the
car," he said. "But when I opened the door, flames came from under the
dash." Knight drove the car into a ditch and went to call 911.
The Upper West Fork Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the
intersection of the Milo-Beech Road off Route 16. The 1990 Chevy was a
total loss on arrival, according to department officer Debbie Metheney.
