Long-time Department of Highway's employee Joan Satterfield has been appointed to be the new Highway Administrator for Calhoun.
Satterfield has worked in various capacities for 32 years, starting off as a clerk in 1974, saying "I've been involved in administrative efforts for the department for a long time."
There are a handful of women in WV serving in the capacity.
Satterfield said "I did reach a point where I needed some kind of change, and certainly I will enjoy the challenge. I've always liked working (for the WVDOH)."
Satterfield was selected from a pool of five applicants for the non-political appointment.
