It was a successful year for Relay for Life in Calhoun County, raising $26,030 for cancer research and programs.
The Calhoun County Relay for Life wrap-up meeting was held on July 25. This year's Relay was another wonderful success with teams from all over the county coming together.
Participating teams and captains included: Bosom Buddies-Jean Simers (top fundraiser); E-Lemonade-Ors-Sue Oshoway; Tishies Terminators-Patricia Vannoy; Card Sharks-Florence Parsons; Calhoun Banks-Richard Welch; Attackers-Tina Brinson; Minnie's Movers & Shakers-Barb McKown and Soldiers for Survivors-Shari Johnson.
There is discussion regarding the location of the 2007 Relay, team recruitment, sponsorship, mission delivery, advocacy and publicity.
The date for the 2007 Relay for Life was set for June 22-23 at Calhoun County Middle-High School.
The kick-off meeting has been scheduled for February 13, 2007 at 6 p.m. at the CMHS.
The regular monthly team meetings will be the 2nd Tuesday of each month, following the kick-off.
