Mae Weaver Jennings is one of Calhoun's
"old-time" school teachers, now 88-years-old
By Alice Hickman
Wow! This was the week-end for school reunions.
Well, I am still somewhat immobile, so I didn't go to the Nobe or White Pine School reunions, even though I was a student at both schools.
But some of the folks from the reunions stopped by my house.
My mother, Mae Jennings, taught at both schools and was a student at Nobe School at a much younger age. She is now 88 years old.
She decided to attend the Nobe reunion, returning home in the afternoon disappointed that she couldn't make it to both.
By late afternoon some people from the White Pine School reunion made their way to my house.
First came relatives, Jack and Lila Hickman and Mike and Joyce Moore from the Charleston area.
Next came a former student of Mrs. Jennings, Debbie Metz Nelson and her son Jacob, twin grandsons, Trenton and Tyler, and her brother Rick Metz.

My daughter Lisa and children, Courtney, Levi and Cara joined us briefly and we had our own little reunion.
After reminiscing and passing the babies around, we all parted a little happier and those of us who couldn't go to the White Pine reunion, feel better since a small wonderful slice of the crowd came calling at our house.
