NO REASON YET FOR RITCHIE SHOOTINGS

(07/05/2006)
Police say at this point, they do not know why a mother would have shot two of her three children and then herself in Ritchie County.

Ritchie Trooper R.E. Richardson said "They were all (found) in the general area, in the bedroom, on the floor. One child, an injured child, was on the bed."

That child died enroute to the hospital.

The family lived at Auburn, the children attended school at Smithville.

Richardson says there are a lot of possibilities for the shooting, including checking the medical and psychological problems of Tanya Fink.

The incident took place late Saturday night, after the Fink family visited friends in Calhoun County, a co-worker of Mr. Fink.

Police are saying the alleged shooter is 30-year old Tanya Fink, her murdered sons are eight-year old Garrett Fink and five-year old Wyatt Fink.

Investigators say the woman's husband and eldest son, age 12-13, were in the home at the time of the shootings.

Police said "Information from them indicated they were downstairs. This was a large house, a three-story house, they were downstairs at the bottom floor at the time the gunshots went off."

The family had moved to the Ritchie County within the last year. He was employed out of the Dominion Gas office in Grantsville.
