Sunny weather in Glenville Wednesday brought back contractors
working to finish several ongoing jobs in the city.
Roberts Builders, Inc., of Glenville, worked throughout the day
installing new roof shingles on City Hall. New gutters are being
installed and the east side of the building was resided.
Glenville received an $8,000 grant from the West Virginia
Economic Development Program, according to Mindy Fitzpatrick,
city secretary-record clerk.
Bobby E. Toppings, of Arnoldsburg, takes a bundle of shingles from
Bill Frashure of Sand Fork. Toppings' father, Bobby, of Millstone, (in background) returns for another bundle. The roofers are employed
by Roberts Builders of Glenville.
City council voted to match the grant. Sealed bids were accepted
and Roberts Builders won the $15,925 contract.
The city building is the home of the Glenville Police, recorder and
treasurer's offices, and city council chambers. The meeting hall upstairs
is used by a variety of organizations.
The hall has hosted dinners, 4-H dancers, and in the past been the
home of area scout troops. The city donates the facilities to
community and non-profit organizations, Fitzpatrick said.
The Roberts Builders crew started the roofing work Wednesday
morning. Buzz Roberts, foreman of the job, said they'd be
completed by Thursday. Three members of the crew have been
working for Roberts Builders for more than 15 years. "We've
got a pretty good crew," Roberts said.
Gutter Express, Inc., of Jane Lew, replaced gutters on the building.
Jay Posey, of Jane Lew, attaches a new gutter at Glenville City Hall Wednesday afternoon. Posey is employed by Gutter Express, Inc.,
of Jane Lew.
