Not even several days of inclement weather dampened the spirits
of either the 4-H campers or staff.
Although, everyone did seem thankful Wednesday morning for
a break in the rain.

Nearly 80 campers participated at the Gilmer County Recreation
Center.
One group practiced archery. Another enjoyed the fruits of the
outdoor cooking class - feasting on the project.
Other activities included candle making, painting, ceramics, leather
craft, and basket weaving. Tie-dyed t-shirts hung drying - the products
of yet another project.

In between sessions, a mud-puddle temporarily captured the
attention of three young boys.
Vada Zinn, WV University extension agent of Gilmer County,
said everything has gone very well this week.
Zinn was successful at getting several new teachers and counselors
to help with this year's effort. Others came back because of their
connection with Zinn when she was an active 4-H member as a youth.
It turned the camp into a homecoming of sorts. |
