CALHOUN SEEKING APPLICANTS FOR DEPUTY SHERIFF'S EXAM - County Has $100,000 Carry-Over

The Calhoun Commission met Tuesday and approved the advertising of examinations for openings for deputy sheriff.

Calhoun Sheriff Carl Ballengee has indicated he is interested in hiring two deputies, following the resignation of Chief Deputy Ron Bandy.

The Calhoun Deputy Sheriff's Civil Service Commission is now accepting applications of people interested in taking the competitive eligibility examination which will be given at 10 a.m. on July 24th.

Applicants must submit their request to the Calhoun County Clerk no later that July 13th at 3 p.m.

Commission President Larry McCallister acknowledged the county has over $100,000 to carry-over into the next fiscal year, saying "This is one of the best years for carry-over, the county being in the black."

Commissioners approved the carry-over of a number of grants into the next fiscal year and paid bills.

The next commission meeting is scheduled for July 10 at 9 a.m.
