Beatrica I. Watson, 80, of Elizabeth, W.Va., passed away into Heaven on June 13, 2006, at the Willows.
She was born May 8, 1926, in Normantown, W.Va., the daughter of Frank and Grace Stewart.
She was a graduate of Normantown High School in Gilmer County. She attended Glenville State College, was an educator at Anjean in Greenbrier County, at Wirt County High School and at Palestine School in Wirt County, where she served as teacher/principal. She was also employed by the Department of Human Services in Wirt County for 13 years.
She was a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church, where she had served as a deaconess and was a member of the choir. She enjoyed quilting and visiting with friends and family. She was a great cook and enjoyed doing many behind-the-scenes acts of kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray H. Watson; and four brothers, Arlan, Chester, Ernest and Wallace.
She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Ray Watson and her husband, Rodney; one son, Michael Howard Watson and his wife, Kandy; one brother, Scott Stewart and his wife, Juanita; one sister-in-law, Ethel (Chester) Stewart; four grandchildren, Brian Watson, Julie Watson, Ericka Miller and her husband, Michael, and Michelle Watson; one great-granddaughter, Skylie Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark McCloy officiating. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home, Elizabeth, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
