Mrs. Ocie Cottrell, 88, of Route 2, Elizabeth, died July 18, 2001, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital of Parkersburg, WV.
Mrs. Cottrell was born October 19, 1912, in Calhoun County, daughter of the late Henry Curtis
and Lucy Tucker Parsons. She was a homemaker and a member of Jesus' Revival Center.
She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, farming and quilting.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Woodrow Cottrell; three sons, Stanley Cottrell of
Elizabeth and Larry and Jerry Cottrell both of Palestine, WV; two daughters, Geraldine Bailey
and Sharon Burnside both of Elizabeth; two brothers, Manford Parsons of Elizabeth and
Everett Parsons of Petroleum; one sister, Vada Reip of Nicut, WV; 20 grandchildren; 35
great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Perry, Joe, Seldon, John and Okey Parsons; five
sisters, Emily Cottrell, Ella Brown, Josephine Frame, Alberta Goodrich and Tennessee
Greathouse and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with
ministers Jerry Cottrell and Jeff Cottrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Knights of Pythias
Cemetery of Elizabeth.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, and until the time of the
service Saturday.
