Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services has received a new ambulance, which has already been placed in service. The $50,000 ambulance, came unequipped and was obtained through a crisis grant through the state's Healthy Care Authority, that was described as a "one time grant."

EMS Director Josh Johnson said a second new ambulance is expected sometime this summer.

Johnson said the replacement vehicles are coming not a minute too soon, with the old ambulances frequently breaking down.

EMS has recently received a $1,900 grant from the Oakland Foundation for the purchase of a new stretcher and this week received a $6,000 grant from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation for the purchase of two defibrillator's.
