Opal Starcher Stout, 80, of Cottageville, formerly of Spencer, died May 30, 2006, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.
Mrs. Stout was born September 1, 1925, at Richardson, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Sylvester S. and Mae Langford Starcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Willard, Alvin, Bernard and O.L. "Bill" Starcher; three sisters, Earliss Starcher, Goldie Young and Ruth Simmons.
She was a retired teacher, who taught elementary schools in Roane and Putnam Counties, WV, Washington County, OH and the Heritage Christian Academy, Ravenswood. Opal was a graduate of Glenville State College. Also, she attended the Grace Gospel Church, Pettyville.
Survivors include a brother, Rex Starcher of Spencer and a sister, Joretta Foster of Vienna; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Friday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Kenneth Leedy and Pastor Mike Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Starcher Cemetery, Arnoldsburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. |
