There will be some tight new rules on WVs antlerless deer season this fall, a season that will have the most restrictions since the mid-1990s.
Calhoun will have a one-doe limit during an 18-day season.
Doe hunting won't be allowed in 17 counties.
Sixteen counties will have reduced bag limits and shortened seasons.
The Division of Natural Resources says the changes are being made because of a drop in white-tailed deer herds.
The drop has been more acute in the state's more mountainous counties.
The 17 counties closed to doe hunting are Boone, Braxton, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Lincoln, eastern Kanawha, Mercer, Nicholas, western Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph, Raleigh, Summers, Tucker, southern Wayne and Webster.
Counties with an 18-day season and a one-doe limit are Barbour, Cabell, Calhoun, Doddridge, Grant, Lewis, Monroe, Preston, Putnam, Ritchie, Roane, Upshur and parts of Kanawha, Pendleton and Wayne.
