CALHOUN HIGH'S VALEDICTORIANS-SALUTATORIAN ANNOUNCED - Cunningham, Brown And Hanshaw Receive Top Honors

Mitchell Cunningham and Adrienne Brown have been selected Calhoun High School Valedictorians from the Class of 2006. Cunningham and Brown were recognized Monday night at the seventh annual Graduates Banquet program at Calhoun Middle-High School, in addition to Salutatorian Joshua Zane Hanshaw.

Cunningham, Brown and Hanshaw were among the eight 2006 honor graduates recognized at the banquet.

MITCHELL CUNNINGHAM (pictured left) honors and high school activities include HSTA, Academic Team, National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, Governor's Honor's Academy, Promise Scholarship, WVU Mountaineer Scholar, Mollohan High Tech Scholar, Math Field Day, Student Council, Senior Class President, Junior-Sophomore Class Historian, Elementary School tutor and a member of Students for a Progressive Society.

Cunningham has been involved in the Adopt-a-Highway program, Blood Mobile, and Elementary Read-a-Loud.

He plans to enter the honors program at WVU in Morgantown this fall and major in biology, he is interested in the medical field.

Mitch is the son of Steven and Carolyn Cunningham of Pleasant Hill.

ADRIENNE BROWN (pictured left) honors and high school activities include, HSTA, National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, Academic team, Governor's Honors Academy, Class Treasurer, Students for a Progressive Society, Math Field Day, consecutive winner Art Show - "Best of Show."

Brown has been involved in Adopt-a-Highway, Read-Aloud, Book Give-a-way and job shadowing.

She plans to attend WVU in Morgantown, interested in a career in the medical field.

Adrienne is the daughter of Tracy Naylor and Danny Brown of Pleasant Hill.

JOSHUA ZANE HANSHAW (pictured left) honors and high school activities include National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, National Vo-Tech Honor Society, member and vice-president of VICA, five year Math Field Day participant, HSTA,perfect attendance Junior and Senior year, Know Your State Government Day, CGCC Most Outstanding Student '04-'05 and Vocational Student of the Year.

Scholarships received Earl J. Gainer, CGCC Scholarship, Skills USA Award, Albert Yanni Scholarship, Michael Whipkey Memorial Scholarship and Robert H. Mollohan High Technology Scholarship.

Hanshaw plans to attend college, looking at a career as a network administrator and "travel the US setting up networks for companies."

He is the son of Ronnie and Rebecca Hanshaw of Chloe.

The three will deliver addresses at Friday evening's graduation ceremony.
