It was the first installment of the 'Coffee with Leaders' series, and the Calhoun Young Liberals spent Saturday morning at the Serendipity Café, talking with Vivian Stockman, environmentalist and activist.
Ms. Stockman discussed the impact of mountaintop removal, coal slurry impoundments, and the Bush EPA on West Virginians and their families.
Students Jade Nichols '07, Hanna Law, '07 Andrea Hardway '06, and Cory Roberts '07, along with faculty sponsor Mr. Ansel Payne, attended the Spencer anti-war protest in front of the Roane County courthouse and met other local figures, including David Hedges of The Times Record, Ken Lewis, and Mary Wildfire.
