A Normantown man was killed after his truck struck a tree Sunday afternoon about 2 p.m. A spokesperson said Zane Sherwood was "dead on scene," although a dog riding in the vehicle survived.
Sherwood reportedly lost control of his truck in a turn on US 33-119, a short distance west of Normantown School.
Calhoun EMS responded to a mutual assistance call to the Gilmer county accident. Gilmer EMS, the Glenville Volunteer Fire Department and the Normantown VFD responded to the fatality.
Sherwood, about 70, had moved to the Normantown area from Ohio, following retirement. |
