A Roane County teacher was among twelve West Virginia educators that have been honored with Arch Coal's Teacher Achievement Award.
Brenda Kay Chadwell of Geary Elementary School will receive one of the $2,500 cash awards, a trophy and a plaque.
Geary School will also receive $1,000 to be used to assist at-risk children.
The winners were chosen from about 450 nominees.
The award recipients are chosen for showing excellence in the classroom.
