Two local men were arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance and resisting
arrest on July 2. Trooper J. B. Hunt has charged John D. Hickman, Jr. of Grantsville
and Jeffery Tallhammer of Mt. Zion with the offenses.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's department had been summoned to a domestic problem
at the Regina Cole residence at Country Lanes Trailer Park off Route 16 near Calhoun
Homes.
Deputy Ron Bandy went next door from the Cole residence to obtain information
related to the domestic dispute, when occupants Tallhammer and Hickman "got
excited and fled the house." Bandy went in pursuit, unaware of any problem, to find
Hickman pulling marijuana plants from a patch behind the residence. Tallhammer fled
into the woods.
After obtaining a search warrant, Deputy Bandy said the officers confiscated 14
marijuana plants. Sheriff Allen Parsons and Deputy Carl Ballengee also responded to
the early morning call.
