Calhoun shot only 13 of 42 - 31 percent -- from the field Thursday night.
But it was enough as Ravenswood shot even worse - 11 for 57. And because of that Calhoun came away with a 39-30 victory over Ravenswood
in the Battle of the Red Devils. With the victory Calhoun takes 11th place
in the Little Kanawha Conference consigning Ravenswood to last.
Calhoun jumped out early and never looked back.
The Red Devils took a quick 10-2 lead and pushed it out to 22-8 at
intermission.
It turned out to be enough as Ravenswood's second-half rally came up short.
Dani Church led Calhoun with 13 points. Church, a junior forward, is
averaging 18.2 points per game and is a strong candidate for all-LKC. She
also added 12 rebounds in the victory over Ravenswood and is averaging
double figures in rebounds.
She was backed by Kara Sears with eight, Courtney McKown with seven and
Tessa Batten with four. Casey Westfall added three while Katie Walker and
Amanda Richards had two each.
With the win Calhoun improves to 2-16.
The Red Devils return to action at Ritchie County Monday night.
