Flora Evelyn McElwee Collins of Normantown, West Virginia, at the age of 96, went to be with her Lord on February 5, 2006 after a brief illness. She was born May 21, 1909 at Lockney, Gilmer County to Judson and Lozanna Boone McElwee. On November 2, 1942 she was united in holy matrimony to Hayward Bernard Collins, who preceded her in death.
She was the loving mother of one daughter and son-in-law, Twila and Melville Moyers of Normantown, and a very special "Granny" to Luann Moyers McCord and Bailey of Morgantown; David and Amber Moyers of Logan, Liberty of Carey, Ohio, Daniel and Autumn Moyers and Taylor of Pandora, Ohio.
Also surviving are many wonderful nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and a very close sister-in-law, Juanita Collins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters, Fred and Wilber McElwee, Flossie Turner, Olena Norman, Mellie Flenner, and Alma McElwee.
Flora was a member of the Stumptown Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church since January 8, 1933 having served as Sunday School teacher, secretary of the Women's Mission Circle, VBS worker, and participant in many other church functions.
Services will be conducted by Elder Larry Fisher and Rev. Harry Siers at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 9 at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
Family and friends may visit prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. or at the Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, WV on Wednesday, February 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Collins Community Cemetery at Stumptown.
Stump Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
At her request, anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in lieu of flowers may do so to either the Stumptown Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church or the Rosedale Baptist Church for the spreading of the Gospel and mission work. |
