There will be a sing Saturday, February 11 at 7 P. M. at the Burning Springs M. E. church. All singers and the public are welcome. Rev. Paul Williams filled his regular appointment Sunday and music was provided by the Marks family.

There was finally a little snow over the weekend.

Anna Engelke was attending to business at the Country Music Hall of Fame & met Billy Dean and Jimmy Kirsh. She also stayed at the Choo Choo in Chattanooga.

Richard McFall , Gary & Alvin Ferrell were among those calling on Mr. & Mrs. Carl Ferrell & family.

Glen Long, Roger Hornbeck, Mr. & Mrs. Doug Starcher and family, Wirt County Commissioner Robert Lowe, Mr. & Mrs. Delbert Bunner, Jr. & sons, Roy & Bernard Nicholas were among those attending to business in Creston over the weekend.

Mark Cain (LK Logging) moved a skidder through the area on Saturday.

Former Creston school bus driver Leo Craddock killed a big coyote gip right beside his house. These varmints are like terrorists, just getting way out of hand and needing to be thinned.

Euell Russell was consulting his physician and undergoing tests. He was also calling on C. Glen Arthur.

It was said that R. W. Arthur has not been feeling well.

Jeneva "Midge" Pierson, age 63, passed away. She was a daughter of "Sif" Tanner and Edna Stevens Tanner Headley. For a while the family lived on Little Creek.

Lisa M. Sheldon made the dean's list at WVU-P.

Alvin Engelke was calling on the Amish at their place (Millers) on Garfield road Saturday. They are making their tasty baked goods again (the cinnamon rolls are the best) and they now have Amish meats and cheese as well as real butter. A certain columnist who lives to eat currently is eating very well. He also bought a big bag of rolled oats to eat for breakfast to help knock down the cholesterol numbers.

One of the new windows has been installed in the Creston Community Building and a painting party is scheduled for the rest of them so they can be installed.

The price of local crude rose to $61.50/bbl reflecting the obvious concern caused by Iran's decision to eradicate Israel and other revolting developments. Those fellows might do well to read the Book of Esther and see what happened to the last bunch of Persians that tried to wipe out the Hebrew children.

Norma Schartiger and almost the whole crew at Hays & Co., Thorn Roberts, John Stone, Mark Lytle, Richard McFall, Les Galbraith, Jon Hildreth and Hughie Dale were among those who attended the W. Va. Independent Oil & Gas meeting down at the Mouth of the Elk River. Lots of politicians including the governor rubbed elbows with the oilmen. Bob Kiss and Don Blankenship both gave presentations on the problems facing West Virginia and Dr. Gene Stanaland of Auburn University explained the federal budget so that one could understand how "Cuts are actually increases" since there are never real cuts in federal budgets.

Some oil & gas producers who had been selling gas through Columbia lines were shut in last summer "for pipeline repairs". Now they have been told that there is no room in the pipeline for their gas. At the same time consumers have been told there is a shortage and that is why prices are up. One might conclude that some of poor Sen. Rockefeller's relatives needed new shoes.

Johnny Miller the popular long-time mail carrier from Creston, via Annamoriah, Joker & Hur to Mt. Zion has been on the puny list.
