ATTENDANCE LOW AT WEST FORK FLOOD MEETING

(02/03/2006)

Four residents of the upper West Fork attended a public meeting last night in Grantsville to obtain information regarding options that property owners have following a flood.

About 50 residents who sustained flood damage last August 29th were sent letters regarding the meeting and the public was invited to attend.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and gather information for future flood mitigation opportunities and possible buy-outs of frequently flooded property, according to Tim Meeks of the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council.

Representatives of the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council, the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services were present. The meeting was chaired by commission president Larry McCallister.
