THE LONE METHRANGER RIDES AGAIN

(02/02/2006)
Grantsville resident John M. Richards, who is currently under indictment on charges related to the manufacturing of meth, continues his "Lone Methranger" war against the illegal drug with a second edition of his anti-drug publication.

Titled "Meth - the Devil Drug," the 15-page booklet contains articles identifying meth products, how big a meth lab is, meth laws and letters from the meth world.

The publication claims to have targeted meth labs, causing the operators to go out of business, in addition to Richard's claiming he has helped the drug war by supplying ingredients to destruct or "flop a batch."

"Most people will not notice the abnormal behavior going on next door," Richards wrote "For instance, a very busy meth lab operated for several months within 100 yards from Calhoun County Prosecuting Attorney, Matthew Minney's home. Grantsville Police Chief, Ron Gordon also lived near this same meth lab ..."

The booklet shows the faces of meth users before and after the use of the illegal drug.

Richards lists himself as the editor, but gives credit to an anonymous investigative reporter and seven field correspondents for the war on meth he is conducting.

He has also issued a CD titled "How to identify a meth Lab and its by-products... What's cookin' in your neighborhood."

During the past few months he has been circulating video tapes which he says shows him in a role fighting against meth in Calhoun and Gilmer county, or undercover videos which allegedly show area residents making drug buys.

Richards has either been charged, indicted or found guilty of numerous charges related to larceny or sexual abuse in several West Virginia counties and Ohio.

He is currently being scheduled to appear in Calhoun Circuit Court.
