MORE CANDIDATES FILE FOR LOCAL SEATS

Incumbent Carlene Frederick has filed for the Calhoun Board of Education.

There are three openings on the Board of Education, with terms currently being held by Carlene Frederick, Rick Fitzwater and Don Harris, expiring.

While it is somewhat confusing, three board members will be elected. Two could be elected from Sheridan, one from Sherman, one from Lee, two from Washington and two from Center.

The B of E filing fee is $25.

Current Calhoun Commissioner Larry McCallister filed early for the six-year term.

Candidates must be from Washington, Center or Sheridan district.

The filing fee is $165.

All seats on county executive committees are vacant, and will be filled. A man and woman from each district. Filing fee is $10.

Gaylen Duskey has filed for Republican Executive Committee from Center.

Loretta Stevens has filed for Democrat Executive Committee from Center.

Linda Simmons has filed for Democrat Executive Committee from Center District.

Richard "Burl" Postalwaite has filed for Democrat Executive Committee from Center District.

Robert Park has filed for Democrat Executive Committee from Washington District.

Margie Evans has filed for Democrat Executive Committee from Lee District.

The State of West Virginia has shifted virtually all election activities to county clerks.

Candidates filing for office in more than one county, like House of Delegates, State Senate, etc., the filing must be made with the Secretary of State's office.

Bill Stemple's seat, representing the 33rd District, for the House of Delegates (filing fee $75), is up for re-election, as is one seat for the Second Senatorial District (filing fee $150), currently held by Larry J. Edgell.

The filing deadline is Saturday, January 28.
