Grantsville's swimming pool problems have been resolved, according to Mayor Don
Harris. "Everything was done by the book," he said. "The health department put the
pool back on line early Saturday," after the pool was down for 48-hours.
"We apologize for the problem, and welcome all county residents to come back and
enjoy the pool for the summer," he said.
Temperatures have soared into the 90's
Harris said the problem was mechanical. A valve which dispenses chlorine into the
pool quit functioning after a drop in water pressure. Officials said a main line sprung a
leak on Route 7, causing the pressure to drop.
Grantsville Councilman Mike McCartney told The Parkersburg News there were
problems with Grantsville's swimming pool. He said he thought the problems
happened "because there was a failure to keep a close eye on the chemical
levels."
Harris said the pool manager, Todd Ritchie, did everything he was suppose to do.
