Emogene Gae "Jeanie" Nicholas Britton, 56, of Reedy, died Saturday, January 7, 2006, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, after a brief illness.
She was born December 1, 1949, in Calhoun County, a daughter of Ernest Nicholas of Spencer and the late Goldie Marks Nicholas. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Kellwood Corporation.
She was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church, Reedy, where she had served as Secretary of the Reedy Sunday School Convention for 35 years, was a member of the Good Hope Singers, and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Reedy Lion's Club.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul D. Nicholas.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 35 years, James R. "Jim" Britton; son, Ronnie A. Britton and companion Christel Ward of Reedy; and grandchildren, Jonathan Tyler "J.T." Britton of Elkview, and Mikhail Ward of Reedy.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, January 11 at 1:00 p.m. in the Good Hope Baptist Church, Reedy, with the Rev. John Price officiating. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and at the church from noon until the time of the service on Wednesday. |
