Jean Hershberger, 79, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Friday, December 16, 2005, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness.
She was born January 14, 1926, at Looneyville, a daughter of the late Clemmie Dale and Eupha Maude Boggs Hershberger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Hershberger, Jr. and one sister, Madelyn Garrett.
She was a retired employee of the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department office in Spencer. She was a member and past president of the Roane General Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Hill and Hollow Garden Club, the Spencer Junior Women's Club, and a charter member of the Linden Chapter #152, Order of the Eastern Star, Linden. She was a graduate of Spencer High School and a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church, Spencer.
Survivors include two nephews, Jeff Garrett of Liverpool and Greg Garrett of Ravenswood; two grand nephews, Jesse L. Garrett and Jeffrey Ryan Garrett; a grand niece, Courtney Madelyn Garrett; one brother-in-law, Loman Garrett of Ravenswood; four cousins, Ann Atkins, Jim Atkins and Jack Garrett all of Spencer; Shauna Sayre of Parkersburg.
A funeral service will be conducted Monday, December 19 at 3:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. David Calvert officiating. Burial will be in the Epling Chapel Cemetery, Looneyville.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
