Dani Church was on her game Tuesday night but it was not enough as Braxton
County was relentless in the second half in pulling off a 60-52 victory.
Calhoun led most of the way early on after taking a 13-9 first quarter lead.
The Red Devils extended that lead by one in the second quarter and were on
top 31-26 at intermission.
But that is as far as it got for the Red Devils as Braxton knotted the score
40-40 at the end of three and pulled away from there.
Church made eight field goals and eight free throws while hauling down 15
rebounds.
Courtney McKown backed her with nine, Kara Sears and Tessa Batten with eight
apiece. Katie Walker, with two, and Whitley Church, with one, rounded out
the scoring.
Calhoun was hampered by a cold-shooting hand throughout the game hitting on
20 of 65 shots for a 30.8 percentage. On the other hand the Red Devils did
have 49 rebounds.
Calhoun also had problems hanging onto the ball with 26 turnovers, but the
balanced that somewhat with 12 assists.
The Red Devils, 0-3, go after their first victory of the season Saturday at
Wahama.
